Location:  The location of the doesn't have a definite location per say. It is more so that the location of the film is multiple locations inside one main location. The main location being The hills of Inveraray apartment complex and the surrounding golf field area. The side location s being the golf courses the home of the characters and a basketball court all with in the residence.  Participants: There are about 4 participants within this film. the first of which being myself. I will play one of the characters within the film. That character being the older and often brutish older brother Dez. My little brother is also one of the actors of the film. He will be playing the conniving little brother. My father will be playing the father...Ironic isn't it(sarcasm). The last participant would be my sister of course but she doesn't play in this movie. She in fact is going to be the videographer/recorder of this film. If the film calls or it my sister me or my brother can be int

Planning: The tale of 2 brothers

The tale of two brothers The film starts out with establishing shots of the setting. This is done to give the viewer an idea of the area the film and action will take place. This takes place from about slide one to slide 3. On slide 4 we get a mid shot of he door right before the main characters a reached. From slide 5 to 6 we get a panning view of both of the main characters. There is an elder brother named Dez and and an younger brother name wellie. in this scene their both staring viciously towards each other. From slide 7 to 110 they are all close ups. 7 and 8 are just the 2 brothers staring angrily at each other. 9 and 10 actually have the dialogues. Both of the afore mentioned dialogues really just include making very "smart remarks" towards each other. In slide 11 the older brother takes offense. He gets up and proceeds to grip his collar, with a menacing look on his face he proceeds to remark, "what did you say", to his little brother. In slide 12 the little

Short film research: The Big Break | Action/Comedy Short Film

Image
Ok I Have looked and reviewed the last and final short film. It is a action comedy that goes by the name of The Big Break. First off I want to say that the movie was phenomenal. it was one of the more different films I've ever seen. I say that due to the fact that it merged two very different genres in one. With that being said I do believe that it still retains more of the conventions of an action film. Speaking of convention I am now going to list the conventions of the film as it pertains to the action genre. Ill start off with sound first. Just as with all Action films their are the sounds that are always present include dialogue non-diegetic and diegetic  sound. With regards to the film the an example of diegetic sound is the phone call noise. For non-diegetic it would obviously be the background music. Lastly for dialogue in would most definitely be the the talking amongst the characters/actors. Now with sounds done we are off to mis-en-scenes. Ill start with the costumes fi

Short film research: Intergalactic Chef Hunts for Rare Spices | Award-Winning Sci-Fi Animated Short

First off I want to say that i can see why this film is an award winning sci-fi short. This film was absolutely spectacular. It was amazing from the animation and  character design to even the  voices and sound effects. With that being said this film could and can perfectly fit into the genre of actions. If one were to examine the conventions of action and compare it to this movie one would see that it near perfectly lines up. Speaking of which lets discuss conventions of actions with reference to this film. First off ill start with sound. Just like any other action the film used mainly 3 different sound types. 1 it used dialogue(when the characters were speaking to each other,  diegetic sound such as the sour of the blaster and the door opening and 3. Non diegetic sound such as during the fight scene. Now we can over on to common mis-en-scene's starting with costume. In this case it matched the scenario which was outer space but in action in general there isn't exactly a norm

Short film research: 3D Animated Sci-Fi Short Film | AUTONOMOUS

Image
This blog is going to cover the sci-fi short titled autonomous. The title said it was a sci-fi but personally I think you could narrow it down even more to sci-fi action. I say this because the film pandered a lot more to the action genre then to any other genre. It also seemed to go along well with the themes and conventions of an action film. which that being said lets delve into conventions starting with sound. With this film just like any other action film contain 3 main sound types diegetic, non-diegetic, and dialogue. Next on the list is common mis en scene. Ill start of with costumes which tend to very but in this film case they were in biker outfits and skin tight uniforms. Now when discussing lighting actions tend to have a mixture of high key and lowkey lighting. Now Onto acting where one can see that acting in an action film requires you to have much more grit aggressiveness and urgency in your character as one could see from any action film including this one. Now make up

Hello! I have just got done watching the film. It seemed to be an action film but I'm not going to lie, it was a bit humorous to me. Nevertheless  it did and maintain most if not all the conventions of action. With that being said I'm going to go through a few of them. First off ill start with the sound. When view the sound their was a plethora of 3 main sounds diegetic sounds and dialogue and non-diegetic sounds. examples of such goes as follows, Diegetic sound when the main character is punching. Dialogue occurred throughout the movie but main between the interaction between the protagonist and her husband. Non diegetic sound occurred manly in the form of back ground music but it mainly showed up in the training montage. Next on the list are common mis-en-scenes. Ill start with the fact that in the action genre costumes can be very diverse. The film had the protagonist change from casual to a martial arts uniform. When viewing the lighting it seem to be a standard mixture be

Research: How to make a short film

Image
I've watched the "how to make a short film" YouTube video and  I gathered a good amount of useful points tips and ideas. Time to delve into what I've gained. Ill start with the fact that when designing or writing you short film one should only do enough that fit their resources. A good example of such is if I have 20,000 I cant be writing or designing for a 100,000 dollar short film. Another example of such is if I only have a water gun I cannot be looking to make a wwii bunker battle since I don't have the resources for such action. When making a short film one should also think of set ups and payoffs. Their are also multiple types of set ups and pay offs including emotional and story as decreed by the video. another skill that their video speaks of is to do or act in opposite of what the audience is expecting. An example of this could be that an audience is expecting a scene  where a mysteries character is the protagonist father but then you can flip the script
